Cultist Simulator and Book of Hours resources
Obviously, the following is spoiler-heavy, as are any sites linked below.
Note that there are differences between Cultist Simulator and Book of Hours games, so if you have a question about how an item is used in a specific game, don’t assume that the knowledge about how, say, an item works in Cultist Simulator is relevant (mechanically or lore-wise) to how it works in Book of Hours.
General Resources and Lore:
For questions and discussions about the lore, I recommend using the official Weather Factory subreddit. The devs are pretty active in the subreddit.
For technical troubleshooting, you can visit the Steam community pages for the games. Here’s a link to the Cultist Simulator community forums and here’s a link to the Book of Hours community forums.
For walkthroughs, you can visit the Steam pages for guides for the games. Here’s a link to the Cultist Simulator guides and here’s a link to the Book of Hours guides.
For information about the Secret Histories universe, check out the official Weather Factory website as well as the Secret Histories wiki. The Secret Histories wiki is more lore-centered than the other two wikis I’ll mention.
Cultist Simulator:
Check out the Cultist Simulator wiki for explanations of game mechanics. It does a good job at explaining the different possible endings as well as how rituals and expeditions work.
Check out the Frangiclave to look at the scraped game data files and learn more about exactly how Cultist Simulator works, e.g. the contents of a given ‘deck’ of cards you could draw from.
Book of Hours:
Check out the Book of Hours wiki for explanations of game mechanics and information laid out in a readable manner.
Check out the Rowenarium if you want something like the Frangiclave but for Book of Hours. It’s data scraped from the game and uploaded online. If you’re wondering about things like what items to use for specific recipes, this is your friend.
Gameplay Tools:
Use the pause button.
I personally recommend playing Cultist Simulator on either a computer or the Nintendo Switch. I like the way that Weather Factory adapted the UI/UX? for the Switch port, and wish that I could use that mode on the computer. I’ve played Cultist Simulator on a phone and tablet before. It’s doable, but it hurts my hands over time and, like with any mobile game (or maybe I’m projecting) it’s easy to misclick.
In terms of mods, I really recommend finding a working mod that lets you auto-loop your job in Cultist Simulator. I don’t know of any off the top of my head.
I recommend using Obsidian as your notetaking software. You will want to take notes. Obsidian is sort of like an offline wiki software but super powerful.
If you use Obsidian, I recommend using this addon by mirage27. This will automatically(?) highlight the names of Principles and add a relevant icon next to them.
If you’re making builds for either game, I recommend using Google Sheets and Google Docs. I use Google Sheets because a lot of cool people have made Google Sheets related to the games. Some people share lore stuff via Google Docs.
Other Weather Factory IP:
I can’t really help with this. I only play Cultist Simulator and Book of Hours, and will likely play Traveling at Night.
